Customer Notice: Sunflower Seed Oil

Food products labelled as containing sunflower oil may instead contain refined rapeseed oil.

Food products labelled as containing sunflower oil may instead contain other refined oils such as rapeseed, palm soybean oil or coconut.
Sunflower oil has become increasingly difficult to source because of the conflict in Ukraine and, to maintain supply, it is having to be replaced with other refined oils in some products before changes have been made to the label. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has carried out a risk assessment and advised that the allergic reactions to these fully refined oils are very rare and, if they do occur, are very mild.

What are we doing and why?

Sunflower oil is becoming increasingly difficult to source because of the conflict in Ukraine. To allow food products made with sunflower oil to remain on sale, we are having to replace it with other fully refined vegetable oils, including rapeseed, palm, coconut or soybean, in some products before we have made changes to the label.
